EN The article concerns the question of research on small knight’s seat in Silesia. Results of excavations carried out in the area and in surroundings of the knight’s seat in Kłopotów (Lubin district, Lower Silesian Voivodship) gave rise to the research on the subject. There, the preserved complex is located on a flat and marshy area, in the western part of the village, behind the buildings of the old demesne. The knight's seat from Kłopotów is a rare example of a double-motte in Silesia. The main element is the oval southern mound with a diameter of 20 x 22 m and a height of up to 2 m. The northern embankment has a diameter of 15 x 16,5 m and a height of 1,5 m. In the trench on the southern mound was found 2 settlement phases. With both can be combined relics of buildings preserved in the form of foundations made of large field stones. Also, two settlement phases were recorded on the northern embankment. In the older one, there was probably a wooden building here, the ruin of which had the regular outline of a quadrangle measuring approx. 4 x 3 m (the second dimension is incomplete). The slope of the mound had a stone mantle and was additionally reinforced with piles. In the second phase, the mound was raised by a layer of sand with a thickness of 0.4 m. For unknown reasons, the plateau remained undeveloped. During the excavations were found a lot of small things: fragments of ceramic vessels, a fragment of a horseshoe, an iron key, nails, a stone whetstone, animal bones. These materials were dated to the second half of the 13th and first half of the 14th centuries.
