EN This text discusses the preliminary characteristics of clay vessels used between the late 18th and late 19th centuries in the Mazovia region. The conclusions are based on materials from rescue excavations. For the purposes of this text, a total of nine ceramic assemblages were selected, representing towns and villages. The analysis focused on comparing the proportions of ware groups and the occurrence of particular types of vessels. The formal diversity of the vessels and the proportion of decorated items were also discussed. The analysis revealed a predominance of redware, a relatively high proportion of greyware vessels, especially in rural sites, the widespread use of faience and semi-faience, and a clear limitation of the distribution of most groups of so-called fine pottery to Warsaw. Locally produced pots, bowls and plates are characterised by a high degree of standardisation in terms of form and decorative motifs, in most cases continuing the style developed in the 18th century.
