EN Two samples of daub, from feature 7a-a furnace of the Lusatian Urnfield Culture (HaC-Early HaD) and feature 71- a kiln for firing pottery of the Cloche Grave Culture (HaD/LTA-LTB1), were subjected to botanical analysis. Both samples were recovered from site XI at Janówek. The analyses and identification of the remains were carried out using methods characteristic of archaeobotany. The results obtained are shown in Table 1. Scarce plant imprints, mainly of cultivated plants - cereals and wild grasses, were detected in the lumps of daub analysed (Figs 1, 2). The presence of the remains of barley, Hordeum vulgare, was characteristic of the older chronological period. In addition, the younger feature contained common millet, Panicum miliaceum (Fig 3), and one of the species of hulled wheat, Triticum sp. This taxonomic composition of the plant remains from the aforementioned features indicates that leftovers from threshing were used to temper construction clay. Moreover, very small pieces of charcoal from Scots pine, Pinus sylvestris, were preserved in the daub from feature 71 (Fig 4).
