EN The aim of the paper was to reconstruct the diet of individuals buried in Yamnaya culture graves on archaeological sites situated in the Bačka and western Banat regions of Vojvodina (northern Serbia) on the basis of stable carbon and nitrogen isotopes analyses. The analyses were performed on eight samples from Yamnaya culture graves collected from human bones of seven adult and one juvenile individuals, and two analogically dated samples of Bos taurus were analysed as a background. The recorded levels of stable isotopes indicate that the diet was typical of inland areas of Central Europe in the analysed period, being based on food of C3 plant origin and signifi cantly supplemented with animal products. The results of the diet analysis are consistent with the subsistence strategy believed to have been practiced by Yamnaya communities, which was based on herding.
