EN Edward Evan Evans-Pritchard (1902–1973), known as E. E. Evans-Pritchard, was a British social anthropologist, whose work was instrumental for the development of social anthropology as a discipline and especially its methodology. He was a prolific writer, with over 300 books and articles published, but among students of religion, he is best known for his work Witchcraft, Oracles and Magic Among the Azande (1937) and a multivolume ethnography of the Nuer, including Nuer Religion (1956). A charismatic figure, he influenced generations of scholars, and his works are still being discussed today.
