EN The terrains of Mazovia are cut by rivers’ valleys like the Vistula, Narew, Biebrza, Wkra, Bzura and Pilica. Most of them converge in the Warsaw basin. Through ages the territorial waters of Mazovia were changed by people. Those changes were made to have usage of waters or of dried terrains in the economy. The Teutonic Knights changed the course of the upper Wkra River in the Middle Ages and it flowed into the Wel River. A lot of changes have been made in the left basin of the lower Narew River and the middle Bzura River. The dams were built in Wloclawek over the Vistula and Debe over Narew River in the 20th century. The consequence of it was creating the reservoirs on the Vistula and Narew River (Zalew Zegrzynski).
