EN The discovery of theNarsarsuaq disc (Uunartoq, Greenland) in 1948 sparked a long discussion on the identification of wooden discs as solar compasses used by the Vikings during sea voyages across the Atlantic. At the beginning of the 21st century, two similar artefacts were found inWolin and Truso (Poland). Through a detailed analysis of those artefacts, the author indicates that hypotheses made so far do not have any grounds in historical and archaeological sources. Each of the discussed artefacts had a different function and should not be associated with navigation.
