EN An introduction to the volume on mutli-mediatized other in 1940s-1960s in Poland and in other neighboring socialist/communist countries. It shows and analyzes the figure of the other represented within and across the media borders including cinema, photography, radio, and new media like television. The chapter presents the period after second world war until 1970 that in Central and Eastern Europe was associated with socialism, coldwar isolation, and arriving new media (television), however not digital images yet.
