EN This book offers a comprehensive analysis of the development of the Federmesser culture on the North European Plain in the Late Glacial, starting from the second half of the Bølling to the Younger Dryas (about 12 240 – 10 630 BC). The book explores the dynamics of the development of Federmesser groups and looks at the extent to which their behaviour could have been affectedby climate and environmental conditions. Despite the differences in lithic assemblages and subsistence strategies over time, these communities were able to create a relatively homogeneous cultural system that lasted nearly 1 600 years, disintegrating only at the beginning of the Younger Dryas.
