EN This paper discusses an archaeology of woodlands as a new branch of archaeological research which follows recent trends in the humanities. Common beeches (Fagus silvatica) from Chycina, Lubuskie province (Poland) with carvings dated to the Second World War are used as a case study. The trees were documented by using terrestrial laser scanning combined with closer range photogrammetry. The main goal of this article is to present the preliminary research results. It is argued that trees with carvings can be understood as a specific category of integrated heritage – as examples of naturecultural monuments.
